WHAT IS LUGGAGES OF LOVE?
It is a fundraiser to provide essential luggage and duffle bags to local foster youth, ensuring they have a safe and organized way to transport their belongings during transitions.
Invisible Bridges Co-Founders are two women who did a needs assessment on the current status of what is occurring in their state and saw that one of the biggest challenges in the school system is
foster children coming to school with their needs unmet. The most common, uncomfortable and heart-wrenching situation foster children encounter is moving from home to home and not having even a bag of their own. They use plastic bags to relocate their belongings, that excludes all the other factors that foster children experience when being relocated.
Carrying belongings in plastic bags can be demeaning and stigmatizing for foster youth. Providing them with proper luggage or duffel bags demonstrates that they are valued and respected, helping to boost their self-esteem. Luggage and duffel bags offer a structured way to pack and transport belongings. This can make transitions between placements easier and less stressful for foster youth
